Tuesday 19 November 2024 - The Common Ground Festival returns for its tenth birthday this winter to celebrate and showcase the work of Calgarys finest emerging and small professional artists from November 20th to the 23rd at the Victor Mitchell Theatre. One ticket grants access to an evening of entertainment. Common Ground 2024 brings six exciting works to the stage! COCKSURE by Cosmo Christoffersen. Inspired by medieval poems like The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer and performed in drag, COCKSURE uses comedy to explore queerness and masculinity. Katharina Schiers dance piece: Jimazen. inspired by Lorna Byrne's writings around Mother Earth and the mythical idea of a protective angel figure who works to calm mother earth when she is damaged Two Girls Improv brings us an improvised queer, femme love story in Heartstrings. The Three Cheese Institute brings us a variety hour presented by the animals of the Calgary Zoo in Enrichment Hour Madeline Hunter Smith with Sucker For Punishment Entertainment presents their new play Echo set in a world where where treasured memories of loved ones can be immortalized and lived over and over in state-of-the-art vaults Logan Sundquist brings us three new short plays of odd occupations in You Work Where? Common Grounds 10th Birthday Bash happens at the Victor Mitchell Theatre at the Pumphouse Theatre (2140 Pumphouse Avenue SW) from November 20th to the 23rd. All performances begin at 7:30.
