About Bill Morton - Since 1926 AUArts has been a major contributor to Canada’s visual culture - in large part to the caliber of its faculty. Case in point is Bill Morton, artist and teacher, who after graduating from the Alberta College of Art (1967) went on to a become the apprentice of a Master Dyer in Japan for 10 years. Bill returned to Calgary in 1983 and has never ceased to inspire students with his knowledge of textiles. Bill Morton's work is collected and shown in the United States, Japan, China, and Canada. Bill was awarded the Alberta University of the Arts Alumni Award in 2019. About Trudie Allen - Trudie Allen taught at the Native Arts and Culture Program at Portage College for over twenty years. She began teaching at Portage College in Lac La Biche in 1997 and retired in 2018. She identifies as Blackfoot and a member of the Blood tribe. Trudie is truly a lifelong maker, she began bead working and sewing at three years of age. Bill Morton and Trudie Allen are part of the current exhibition on display, Cultivate | Instigate. The theme of this night is to celebrate the life and work of Scottish Poet Robert Burns, but more importantly to raise funds for the Alberta Children's Foundation. NES GT will be funding the event in full and looking for the support of friends and connections, as well as the wider community in coming along to the event. Tickets are $150 per ticket and tables of 8 and 10 are available. All proceeds will go direct to the Charity. We have raised over $70,000 from this event over the last 6 years.
