Thursday 9 May 2024 - Celedonio Garrido, a wonderful Andalusian flamenco singer born and steeped in the flamenco neighbourhoods of Huelva, Spain, is visiting Calgary this May. He will bring his deep knowledge and execution of the traditional flamenco song forms to participate in three very special nights being hosted by SoundBar, located downtown at 628 8 Avenue SW. Flamenco is the passionate musical art form of Andalusia, the southern region of Spain where gypsy culture has mixed with Moorish and Spanish folkloric culture. Flamenco is the marriage of the singers voice to the percussive and emotive guitar, often interpreted by dancers who combine percussive footwork with soulful movement to capture and elevate the intention of the singer. For the first two nights of the series, May 10th and 11th, Celedonio, along with guitarist Tosh Hayashi and dancers Maria Regnier, Francesca Canalizo, Silvia Temis, and Tracy Cumberbatch will take his and their artistry to SoundBars stage for two nights of traditional dance, song and guitar. -
