The Spirits Collection illustrates Ward's contemporary approach to the classical figure, revealing a liberating style of expressionism in which content supersedes form. Employing the classical techniques of figurative sculpture, these works challenge convention by presenting only a portion of the figure, providing an incomplete impression of the human form that compels the viewer to finish the image. The contemporary nature of the layered bronze surfaces hint at the multitude of identities behind which we exist. .
