On December 13 we will have a Winter Hike to celebrate the upcoming winter solstice and enjoy the crisp winter air. Join us in the beautiful Big Hill Springs area East of Cochrane for a hike along the valley bottom that will end with a hot delicious meal around a warm crackling bonfire as we watch the sun set over the sparkling winter landscape. This area is a great example of a transition zone between the prairies and foothills and is rich in wildlife diversity such as deer, moose and winter bird residents. As we meander along with the creek, we will pass through steep Spruce forests, open Aspen stands and grasslands with sandstone formations (past falcon nesting spots) jutting up out of the earth. The hike is easy-moderate so everyone can join in the fun! $20.00 for members & $25.00 for non-members.
