Hilarious Holidays

Hilarious Holidays! Music to Warm and Tickle. . . Location: Eckhardt-Gramatté Hall, Rozsa Centre, University of Calgary (206 University Court NW, Calgary) When: Sunday, December 02, 2012 at 2:30 PM Email: WebSite: Known for her versatility and enthusiasm for all musical styles, Calgary pianist Julie Jacques brings the glitzy, glittering, and audacious spirit of Liberace back to Calgary in the world premiere performance of Michael Daugherty's "Le Tombeau de Liberace". Originally composed for a piano and an orchestra, the Calgary Wind Symphony arranged the piece for the wind symphony instruments, including arranging the string parts for saxophones. "Le Tombeau de Liberace" is a tribute to Wladziu Valentino Liberace, a flamboyant pianist who arranged and performed pieces from the classical, Broadway, and polka repertoires in Las Vegas. Comprising four movements, this work highlights a few of the garish yet attractive characteristics of Liberace's music. -------- TICKETS: $15 (adults) / $12 (students/seniors) Tickets are available by calling (403) 214-7571, through, or at the door INFO: Call (403) 214-7571, e-mail, or visit for more information.
