How was this music performed given the restrictions governing every aspect of their lives? Italy's Cappella Artemisia attempts to provide some answers to this question, exploring long-forgotten works with an ensemble of female singers and four instrumentalists, including two cornetto players - an early wind instrument valued for its resemblance to the sound of the human voice. Performers include ensemble director, Candace Smith, and cornetto virtuoso, Bruce Dickey.
