Downhill Skateboard Championship 2012

The world's best downhill skateboarders and street lugers will be battling it out for a prize purse of $12,000 and the IGSA World Champion title. Spectators will be able to catch all the action from start to finish on three giant Colossovision HD screens. There will also be a Longboarding Expo where manufacturers will be showing off their latest gear, autograph sessions, live music, food and two beer gardens. Action sports fans around the world will be able to see all the action on their computer screens and mobile devices as we live stream more than 23 hours of coverage over the three days. The live webcast will be available all three days at www.IGSAworldcup.com. The award winning downhill skateboarding film "Drop: My Life Downhill" will be screened at the Plaza Theater in downtown Calgary at 9:00pm on August 30, 31 & Sep 1. In addition the Sector 9 short film "With A Side Of Victor" and Producer/director Marc McCrudden's latest documentary featuring Mischo Erban breaking the Guinness World Skateboard Speed Record will also be shown. Tickets are $10 at the door. Competitors will ride to the top using Canada Olympic Park's high-speed quad chairlift. Parties are scheduled each night along with other special activities. There will be practice and timed qualifying on Friday and Saturday with $1000 going to the Number 1 qualifier. There will also be a Repacharge race on Saturday for the final four qualifying spots in Sunday's main event. On Sunday, races will determine the 2012 IGSA World Champions in eight divisions: Open Downhill Skateboarding, Women's Downhill Skateboarding, Jr I Downhill Skateboarding, Jr II Downhill Skateboarding, Masters 40+ Downhill Skateboarding, Street Luge, Classic Luge and Downhill Inline Skating.
