Ian Tyson is celebrating five decades of live performances in 2012 with a jam-packed schedule of concerts and the release of a new CD "Raven Singer". At age 78, Tyson continues to keep his loyal fans in awe with songs that range from his classics – Four Strong Winds, Someday Soon and Navajo Rug to his newest works which he continues to write with inspired vigor. Tyson maintains a busy touring schedule combined with the work on his Alberta ranch, which is nestled in the foothills of the Rockies south of Calgary; it's a workload that would exceed most people generations his junior. JUNO award winner and seven-time CCMA Roots Artist of the Year, Corb Lund is, at the heart, an unparalleled regional storyteller. Losin' Lately Gambler, Corb's sixth album and first major international release, is another engrossing collection of sharply drawn characters and richly authentic tales inspired by his own ancestry from the Canadian West. Lund was born and raised in rural Southern Alberta. He has been singing about his country upbringing for more than a decade on critically acclaimed albums such as Five Dollar Bill (2002) and Hair in My Eyes like a Highland Steer (2005). "Playing these shows with Ian will be great fun. We've done similar things a time or two before, and the casualness of the whole thing made it kind of neat. Like two friends shooting the breeze and telling stories. He and I both have lots of personal and family history with the Stampede over the years. I actually wanted to call this thing 'Ballads, Broncs and Bull***t'." – Corb Lund There's no better way to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Calgary Stampede than with an evening of stories, songs and memories with Tyson and Lund. Get ready to experience the west the way it was meant to be heard with music's finest cowboys. Don't miss this one-of-a-kind event with the legendary Ian Tyson and Alberta's own troubadour, Corb Lund at the Martha Cohen Theatre – July 9, 10 & 11.
