Earth Day and C3 Location: Jack Singer Concert Hall (205 – 8 Avenue SE, Calgary) When: Sunday, April 22, 2012 at 2:30 PM Email: calgarycivicsymphony@gmail.com WebSite: www.calgarycivicsymphony.ca Calgary Civic Symphony presents an afternoon of concerto music with four winners of the 2012 Calgary Concerto Competition (C3) with conductor Rolf Bertsch. The C3 is an annual competition that is open to all instrumental students under the age of 18 who are studying with a Calgary music teacher. Winners will each perform one movement from major concerto works with the orchestra. This is the 30th year that the Calgary Civic Symphony hosting the C3 winners concert. Come discover and support the stars of tomorrow—today!  This year's winners are: Stephen Nguyen, piano (15 years old) – Beethoven's PIano Concerto No. 1 in C major (3rd movement) Phoebe Powell, harp (18 years old) – Debussy's Danses sacrées et profanes Paul Van der Sloot (17 years old) – Elgar's Cello Concerto in E minor (4th movement) Bryn Wiley, piano (18 years old) – Rautavaara's Piano Concerto No. 1 (1st movement)   The orchestra will also mark Earth Day with works representing the sky and the sea and concludes the concert with Beethoven's mightiest Leonore Overture No.3. -------- TICKETS: $15 (general admission) / FREE (children under 6) Tickets are available by calling (403) 670-5430, on-line at www.calgarycivicsymphony.ca, or at the door INFO: Call (403) 670-5430 or visit www.calgarycivicsymphony.ca for more information.
