Friday 15 December 2023 - Paul Jacob Fossum is a Calgary raised pianist, now returning for what’s becoming an annual event. He will be joined by stalwart pillars in the Calgarian jazz scene to bring an exciting quintet of original music drawing from the post+hard bop idiom with influences like Art Blakey, Herbie Hancock, Horace Silver and Wynton Kelly. Joining Fossum will be Nate Waters (Tenor Saxophone), David Lavoie (Trumpet), Jeff Gammon (Bass), and Jon McCaslin (Drums+Cymbals). Paul Jacob (PJ) Fossum is a Copenhagen based pianist and synthesist. Born in Canada and having cut his teeth in New York, he’s a versatile musician. With influences from ambient to avant-garde, bebop to baroque, indie-rock to classical these influences blend through him in an inventive and expressive manner across both acoustic and electronic instruments.. -
