Wednesday, 27 November 2024 - Free Falling is a unique double feature that explores the depth of loss and hope through the powerful mediums of circus and storytelling. In the Fire (Welland, ON) and Fish at the Bottom of the Sea (Calgary, AB) examine relationships, grief and healing, while employing the use of unique circus apparatuses specifically designed to support their stories. The Screaming Goats Collective presents their Calgary debut of Fish at the Bottom of the Sea by Nicole Schafenacker; Performed by Léda Davies Fish at the Bottom of the Sea tells a story of death and grief through a thoughtful intertwining of poetry, circus and sound to uplift us as a community, while challenging our art forms and ourselves as artists. In the Fire by Holly Treddenick Femmes du Feu Creations For Holly Treddenick, Artistic Director of Femmes du Feu Creations, a not-for-profit arts organization, and co-owner of The Bank Art House in Welland, Ontario IN THE FIRE is the opportunity to capture stories from her Fathers experience as a Firefighter, with his input. IN THE FIRE shares an understanding of firefighting with a wider audience - to appreciate and understand the work they offer - but also pay tribute to the influence Treddenicks Father has had in her life.Through the creation of set pieces, aerial dance, inventive apparatuses, and projection, IN THE FIRE captures, re-interprets and shares important stories from Treddenicks father, who is also the last living founder of the Winnipeg Firefighter Museum. During the 30 minute performance, all are invited into a reflective space to witness the evolution of a father/daughter relationship, to stir a sense of hopefulness in their own lives, and light the fire. -
