Proceeds from tickets sold will go towards HRA Backstretch Foundation. "The Backstretch" is the barn area of the racetrack where horses are housed. While most fans are familiar with the fast-paced excitement of horse racing, there is a whole community behind the scenes that work seven days a week, caring for the horses. The Backstretch Foundation was established in 2012 to advocate for and improve the quality of life for backstretch workers at Alberta racetracks. The HRA Backstretch Foundation provides benevolence for injured or ill jockeys and drivers, grooms, exercise riders, trainers, and others that make their living at the racetrack. The Foundation provides a variety of services to those in need. These include financial donations to the sick or injured, memorial services for members of the racing family and social events to build a sense of community. -
