Wakefield Brewster Presents: Pt. 4

Thursday 6 June 2024 - Welcome to TD Amplify 2023-24, a season of unexpected and unmatched Calgary performers brought together by curator and spoken word icon Wakefield Brewster. Part live show and part underground DJ party - make TD Amplify part of your Friday or Saturday night in downtown Calgary. Calgary’s sixth Poet Laureate, published writer, and recording artist, Wakefield Brewster's vision for this four-part series of shows is titled PeoplePuzzle: Some Assembly Required, asking what it takes for a person to accept the pieces that make up their own puzzle of an identity. Featuring: Jeremy Furlong, John F. Gerrard, Kaja Irwin, and Chloe Stankowski Jeremy Furlong is a beloved Calgary stand up comedian best known for his grassroots comedy shows, his first comedy album Pocket Scientist (available wherever you stream your music), and his televised CBC gala performance at the Winnipeg Comedy Festival. John F. Gerrard is a writer and multimedia artistwhose practice complements his training in mental health peer support, and published his first book We Make Clocks, Not Time: My Lived Experience With Psychosis, Creativity, and the Ideas That Have Helped Me in 2022. Kaja Irwin is currently in her ninth season with the Decidedly Jazz Dance Company and has amassed a group of collaborators as diverse as jewelery maker Corey Moranis, drummer Nate Chiang, and award-winning band Royal Canoe. Chloe Stankowski is a 26-year old independent musician in Calgary, formerly known as James Colt, and in 2016, she was a finalist for the Youth of Distinction Award in 2016 and featured in SPUR magazine.
