Dentalium Jewelry Workshop

Saturday 24 February 2024 - Dentalium shells have been used by Indigenous peoples as trade items and in jewelry for centuries. Learn the history and cultural significance of the dentalium shell with Métis artisan Janis Laboucane in this five-hour workshop. The workshop will teach you how to prepare your own shells for jewelry making, including sizing, sanding, clipping and piercing the shells with sinew, which you’ll then use to make one of three earring designs. All materials are supplied and yours to take home if you don't finish your pieces during the workshop. Please bring your own lunch as this workshop runs over the lunch hour. - Event Details
