Wednesday, 12 October 2022 - Please join HYMM on October 13th for Be Their Voices at the Engineered Air Theatre at Arts Commons. This is a free admission show presented by The Rise Up Downtown Vibrancy program. Let’s be the voices of people who fight for their basic rights from Iran, Afghanistan, Kurdistan, Syria, Yemen, to Ukraine. HYMM combines traditional melodies from around the world with modern compositions to create music that appeals to a wide audience. Based in Calgary, these musicians come from diverse backgrounds, with influences from jazz, blues, Klezmer, and western pop music, traditional Iranian Santur, traditional Kurdish Turkish Saz, and the Arabic Oud, combined with violin, electric bass, guitar, clarinet, saxophone, percussion, and vocals. -
