Kids Cooking for Kids

Kids Cooking for Kids Dates / Times 2018-02-03 to 2018-02-03 (11:00 to 15:00) Organization Poppy Innovations Type Single Day Community Southcentre Mall, 100 Anderson Rd SECalgary, ABT2J 3V1 Poppy Innovations, together with the South Health Campus and the Calgary Health Trust, are hosting the first ever KIDS COOKING FOR KIDS fundraiser in support of the Emergency Pediatric Pod at South Health Campus. This event will feature twelve kids cooking their very own chicken soup recipes, to be judged by a panel of local personalities. This event will help raise funds for the Emergency Pediatric Pod through the purchase of tickets for sampling the kids' soups during the Soup Tasting and the purchase of the Kids Cooking For Kids Recipe Book containing the recipes from all the kids who entered to be part of this cook off. We also believe that by showcasing the ability of our youngsters to engage in healthy cooking, this event will inspire their peers to do the same. Since opening their doors in 2013, South Health Campus has provided pediatric emergency care to thousands of families. Currently, Emergency Pediatric Physicians provide care in four dedicated beds in South Health Campus' emergency room. Now, we have an opportunity to build a special space that would be customized to serve the 25% of patients that come through South Health Campus' emergency room doors – kids! Calgary Health Trust is raising $3.9 million to make this idea into a reality. Cooking begins at 11:00am to 12:30 pm followed immediately by the judging, and then public Soup Tasting will be open from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. We are also thrilled to have the support of amazing celebrity judges who will be selecting the top 3 soups made at the Cook-off. Our celebrity judges include Top-Chef Canada All-Stars winner, Co-owner of Cluck 'n Cleaver and Owner of Nicole Gourmet, Nicole Gomes; Canadian food writer, columnist and one of Calgary's top foodies, Dan Clapson; Calgary's Fire Chief Steve Dongworth; and Calgary Stampeder Charleston Hughes. .
