2016 Honens Festival: Minsoo Sohn Dates / Times 2016-09-08 to 2016-09-08 (19:30 to 21:00) Organization Honens Type Single Day Community 604 First Street SECalgary, ABT2G 5H8 It has been ten years since Minsoo Sohn's triumphant win at the 2006 Honens Piano Competition. His poetic vision, masterful virtuosity and deep musicianship continue to garner praise from critics and audiences around the world. The New York Times called his 2011 recording of Bach's Goldberg Variations a "beautifully articulated, radiant interpretation", naming it one of that year's top classical recordings. Mr Sohn was born in Korea and moved to Boston in his teens to study with Russell Sherman and Wha Kyung Byun at the New England Conservatory. HIs studies extended from his freshman year to the Conservatory's most prestigious degree, Artist Diploma. Today he lives in Seoul and serves on the faculty of the Korean National University of Arts. This homecoming concert, featuring Mr Sohn's convincing account of Beethoven's final three piano sonatas, is sure to deeply move the Honens Festival audience. .
