Join art historian, Nancy Townshend, for a stimulating presentation on Calgary's foremost Modern artist, Maxwell Bates (1906 - 1980), who grew up at 732 13 Ave. S.W. and became one of Canada's most important artists. Nancy will highlight his art, architecture including St. Mary's Cathedral, his significant writings and his extraordinary life in Calgary, London, UK, a German salt mine during WWII, Calgary and Victoria. Doors Open 7:00pm Nancy's books will be available for purchase- cash or cheque only Tuesday July 31st 7:00- 8:30pm Lougheed House Garden Tour Join Head Gardener Marie Gattinger for a walking tour of the historic gardens and learn about her inspirations for this year's theme.
