Mr. Hope will be performing not one, not two, but three works, including the Vivaldi Concerto RV481, Calgarian composer Aura Pon's Romp and Repose, and his own arrangement of Gershwin's Piano Prelude No. 2. Kalinnikov's sublime Serenade for Strings and Purcell's Suite from Abdelazer (The Moor's Revenge) round out the program. One of Calgary s most respected artists through his musicianship, and his dedication to the musical life of our community, Michael Hope currently holds the full-time position of second bassoonist in the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. The position he held since 1982. The bassoon is the lowest and largest of the woodwinds.
