Health Care Forum 2011 Location: Rozsa Centre, University of Calgary When: Thursday, March 24, 2011 at 9AM to 5PM Contact: Sylvia Fuchek Email: sylvia.fuchek@haskayne.ucalgary.ca WebSite: www.ucalgary.ca/health Health care accounts for nearly half a billion dollars a day and there is no sign it is slowing down. Canadians are consuming more health care services than ever before eating 40% of some provincial budgets. Canada s immense challenge is to continue providing adequate and equally accessible health care services while keeping up with its increasing costs. In spite of its progress, the Canada health care system lacks comprehensive information on what best practices, drugs and procedures are most cost-effective and efficient this makes it difficult to link health care spending to health outcome. While it is expected more money will sustain health care, pressure continues to mount for governments to better spend their health care dollars while providing more services. Are our health expectations substantially higher than the available resources? Is Canada health care system centered on health providers or the public interest? What has been the progress and challenges in making Canada health care system more sustainable? The Centre for Public Interest Accounting at the Haskayne School of Business, along with the Development Studies Club, are pleased to sponsor the "Health Care Forum 2010: improving services while sustaining costs" at the University of Calgary. This free public conference will examine the most updated state of health care financing in Canada and illustrate the most successful stories of health care management. It will bring together universities, involved institutions and the general public in order to understand health care in Canada. .
