Yegor Dyachkov and Jean Saulnier are well known to fans of the Mountain View International Festival, having been staple guest artists at the Festival for many years. Mr. Dyachkov has also appeared, with Anton Kuerti, on the Mountain View Connection concert series, as a winner of the CBC s Artist of the Year award in 2000. Both artists are well-known in Montreal, where they teach - Dr. Saulnier at the Universit de Montr al, and Mr. Dyachkov at McGill University - and throughout North America and Europe as soloists and chamber musicians of the first rank. The benefit concert features a superb reception, created by The Restaurant at Lougheed House, as well as a silent auction of absolutely unique items, such as a musical tea at Lougheed House with pianists Kathleen van Mourik and Charles Foreman, or a night with dinner and breakfast at Buffalo Mountain Lodge. Featured works on the concert include Beethoven s great A-major Sonata for piano and cello, Op. 69, Astor Piazzolla s Le grand tango, and several works by Bohuslav Martinu, including his Nearly Waltz and Ariette in Ragtime Style.
